casual kilts & footwear

I have tried, and I just can't do sandals with a kilt. Just me.

I have a great pair of Deer Stag brown boots that work really well with casual wear. They are similar to Docs but cheaper (in price and make), but boy are they comfy.

It was tough for me too...but I just did it and soon grew to love the freedom and comfort. I like what UK says, "Form Follows Function."

If its hot, then barefoot or sandals are the ticket.

Was even harder to wear my Z Coils with kilts...but just did it, now don't think anything of it. Its really weird when someone starts to say something and I gear up for a kilt question and they ask about my Z Coil shoes (if you're scratching your head folks www.zcoil.com ).

Now, I'm working on a way to wear moccasins with my kilts...only pair I have are turquoise Hopi ones and about the only kilt that goes with turqouise is my white UK workman's...

Gotta explore the fringes. How we gonna know what's "too far" over the line if we don't first find the line by crossing it?

I can see doing it with a solid colour kilt like a UK or Fk, but the tartan thing stands in my way. Besides, I am not a fulltimer and if I am barefoot or in flip flops I usually have board shorts on and am on my way to the pool

Um...dude? You are wearing a kilt. You are already not conforming to the rules.

Quite frankly, if you're in a kilt, very few people are even going to notice what you're wearing on your feet. Well, except for the group here, but then we're used to seeing a kilt.

Think of our Casual Kilts as a pair of shorts...

What type of footwear would you wear with shorts? You can wear the same thing with a Casual Kilt.

For Very Casual, I wear sneakers with rolled down socks. Or else just sandals.

I usually wear a pair of black 'skater type' shoes when I'm in my kilt. Either that or my black work boots. Both work well with hose or without.

Like someone said prior, what would you wear with shorts? Go with what your comfy in, and all will be well.

Once again, you guys rock. Dug out my Docs (the comment about people not noticing hit home), WELL broken in, and polished em right up. As soon as the kilt comes in, I'll post up some pics.
The Army tartan looks real smart...glad I went with that choice. Thanks all for the input!
