Will have to post a couple of pics soon then! I dont bother photographing the sheaths too much as they are all just simple wooden efforts at this stage, stained black & waxed. I didn't see much need to highlight my woodworking faults with something that was only going to be hidden in a sock

I'll have to start teaching myself some silversmithing so I can dress them up a bit.

Another fine blade. You take each one in an entirely different direction than the last. Obviously you are having a lot of fun with these projects and they keep getting better.

    Cheers

    Beautiful work.

A bit more information please? Where do you get your blades, or are you making them yourself. How about a write up on the acid etching process?

    Absolutely unacceptable!

That you turn out such beautiful items and live so far away! Keep up the great work and the great pics. Thanks.

Still making the blades the lazy way: http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=26911

I'd prefer to forge them to shape (then I could play with some true damascus steel, which I have an idea for that I'm dying to try out) but unfortunately lack the room to build myself a forge. I'm waiting on some high-carbon spring steel to make some blades via the stock removal method, but for now, the system of reshaping existing stainless blades is working well enough. Shame I'm not a huge fan of stainless blades

Happy to do a write-up on etching. It'd be a fairly short write-up though, as the process is so simple it's not funny! It does improve the look though of what in my case is a fairly plain & boring blade. I'm trying to work out some sort of jig for cutting a blood groove in with an angle grinder, but not even finished the theoretical yet I have in mind something like a compound mitre saw, but with a 4" grinder fitted instead.

I have 4 blades waiting for hilts ATM, which I'm in the process of working on now. They all have basic etching on them (my first poor efforts at replicating damascus and pattern-welded steel) but I want to do a blade with some knotwork on it, & have an idea for getting the damascus patterning to look better, so I'll photograph the process & post it.

    Raptor,
You are truly an artist. The acid etch work is awesome.
