Okay, back from the website with a couple of sizing questions.

    5'11"-6'2"210-240 LBS.XL

    6'2"-6'5"240-270 LBS.XXL

is what the website says. I'm 6'0" and 250lbs. So should I try to sqeeze into an XL for the right length or should I get the XXL for belly space and have a floor length cape?

Also noticed that the XXL was "special order" on the jacket with the size chart. Wondering if thats also true with the cape?

Matt - what size is that you're wearing in the pictures?

Thanks for any help. The summer monsoons aren't far away down here.

I've been using an Aussie drover's coat - Dry's a Bone I think - in past years. Seems sort of out of place with a kilt.

    Ron,

Mine does have what I'd call a "waxy" scent that isn't too strong. I have to put my nose up to it to really notice. I liken it to that "new car smell."

As to sizing, I'll let Kevin make his reccomendation to you. For the record, I'm wearing an XL. I stand 6' 3" tall, and weigh in at a little over 200 lbs. 44" chest and 36" waist. The Inverness cape fits me perfectly, but as roomy as it is cut, I would say it would also fit someone considerably larger than me in the middle.

    Finally, real weather!

    Hello All,

We FINALLY got some nasty weather. It just happened to be on a birthday night, so we snapped some pictures. Our Fisher Price digital camera does poor job of showing detail in the best of circumstances, but these images show the relative length and overall fit of the Storm Cape. For comparison, I'm 5'10", 170 lbs, and long of limb. I wear a medium.

    Cheers,

    Kevin.

I love the way that looks with your kilt. The length is perfect.

Badly as I have always wanted an inverness cape, I just never could justify the $700 price tag. But this . . .

I can put my duster away and walk with pride in a fine quality piece of clothing that fits a kilt perfectly. Good job, Kevin.

Besides, like Ron said, oilcloth is really more practical than fine wool anyway.

Thought I'd give this thread a bump, and say I really like the concept - especially for SoCal where insulated jackets aren't really necessary. I'm a big fan of oil-cloth and really like my Driza-bone duster for bad weather, but it's got no real ventilation, is strictly a body sleeve, and the pockets aren't hand-warmer friendly. This has good ventilation, well placed pockets, and can be used to cover what you carry as well.

I like it; I'd even wear it with pants.
