Honestly, it depends on the occasion and how you feel.
Most people will wear a PC for super formal, but there are those who will reserve a regulation doublet for super formal events and just wear the PC for dinner dances and the like.
If you can, make both. Wear the PC for most formals and the doublet for anything really, really fancy and after a while you'll feel like you've decided what you want to wear for what occasion.
