I would've explaoned that I was wearing the Original Kilt that actually originated in Scotland hundreds of years ago (fudge a little-he won't know), and he is wearing an American modern version based on my Kilt, but adjusted for modern American wear, and how cool it looks, bet it's comfortable etc. etc.

This makes me laugh and breaks my heart at the same time.
My fiance's Aunt lives in Seattle. At her graduation I wore my kilt and had her auntie tell me 'We have a company in Seattle called Utilikilts that make kilts you can wear during the day, you know.'
