Thumbs up 18 hour Gaelic hose & RMWK T-shirt.

I had ordered some oatmeal colored hose adn a RMWK t-shirt from USA kilts. The order arrived promptly and the hose and shirt were in good shape.

The XXXL T-shirt was from a manufacturer I did not recognize and appeared to be a quality item. I washed it and hung it out to dry in the sun.

The exposed seams in the shoulder and collar are stout and very neatly done. The ribbed collar is a quality touch. For a 3x at less than $20.00 it was better than I expected.

The hose far exceeded my expectations (based on price) upon initial inspection. My right leg is a bit mangled and swells up everyday. My calves measure 21 inches to start with. That right one gets huge by days end. Very impressive that reasonably priced hose even fit.

I put them on today at 0450 and headed to work in a kilt like object of my own crafting. After work it was a family bbq for a graduation in my U.K. still wearing the hose.

The family is a large one and BBQs' are serious business. There is alot of walking around meeting and greeting, carrying chairs here and fro to accomodate the lassies, table folding, horseshoes, beer and soda cases tossed about.. you get the idea.

They stayed up well without garters or flashes. Now 2125 in the P.M. 'round here, they are still presentable. But decorum demands a trip to the washer.

I feel impelled to point out that cheap men's hose, baseball socks, medical tack, ace bandages, long socks, Law enforcement gear worn on the lower leg, all seem to inch down my lower legs with haste. I am impressed. We shall see how they hold up to cycles of wash and wear.

Your mileage may vary, but the hose so far are very non-irritating to the many scars on my bad leg.

My first impression here is a good one. I have to say I have gotten less value for my money and been happy with it. So far USA kilts is right on. I will be ordering again.

More on USAKilts' socks... At the risk of hijacking, here is another sock review, Rocky.

    Plain Cream Hose on sale.
I'm not up to date on the sock market; that is, I don't know whether everyone carries these socks. The package is marked Gaelic Themes kilt hose, Style K0175, and content wool 25% acrylic 25% nylon 20% polyester 30%.

Package sizing for Large says 11-13 (US 12-14). I still don't know whether those are shoe or sock sizes!!! My sizes are at the cusp of Medium/Large (US shoe/sock 10/12), so I asked Rocky. He encouraged me to go up a size, and this was good advice.

On first wearing (before washing), the foot felt a little big. After one washing, it seems just right. My calves are not too big, 15.75" or 40 cm. After being washed these hose are comfortably snug. I don't anticipate needing to wear garters for any reason besides fashion (flashes).

In short, they fit me well. They are extremely comfortable, and feel light in warm weather. Caveat: my legs generally don't feel hot when wearing kilt hose in hot weather, and I live at latitude 34N and low altitude. Your mileage may vary. See discussion of the colored hose, below.

At $10 US, I conclude these are a terrific bargain.

Colored Kilt Hose in dark green, navy blue, oatmeal

Rocky's diabolical plan worked. In the course of selling me 4 pairs of cream socks at a great price, he also sold me 4 pairs of the colored ones. I hasten to add that I consider these excellent value for money.

Package reads Gaelic Themes finest quality kilt hose. The content is 70% wool, 30% nylon; and the feel is near-luxurious if your feet like wool. Mine like it, emphatically. These feel a little thicker than the cream hose, and I deduce that this is from the loft of the wool.

The sizing is similarly ambiguous, and the same logic (Large) worked out for me. I'm close to 6 feet/182cm tall, and my kilt is 21.5"/55 cm from the floor. BOTH of these styles of sock in new condition are almost, but not quite, a little long; so I think they will fit well in the long run.

At the Greenville games, I wore one pair to the outdoor concert Friday evening in hot but not sweltering temperatures, with 6-inch walking shoes, with great success.

Saturday, I wore a pair all day under pretty adverse conditions with sandals. I'm the kind of guy that wears knee socks with sandals, yup. Deal with it. Anyway the temps were 96F, humidity low, and there was not a cloud in the sky. It was a rugged day, but my feet were happy.

    Colors:
the dark green are very dark, indeed. It's a smidge darker than my favorite green polo, or the green stripe in my SWK Hunting McLeod. However, all 3 went together pretty nicely on Friday (guess whom I went to hear at the ceilidh). http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1141/...820b6e97bb.jpg

The oatmeal is going to be a favorite color. It closely matches several shirts I own, and is neutral enough to go with many combinations. I'm wearing them here, in the Xrabble group picture second from left. The shirt looks a little washed out in the sunlight, but it's a close match to the socks.

Glad you got a good fit. I bought some Gaelic Themes lovat green hose, large, at the Blairsville games over the weekend, and had a bit of a struggle to get them over my 16" inch calves. Not exactly spindle-shanks, but not big either.
