At 700 gm per metre it is quite heavy

Metres to yards, 700 times 36/39 is 676gm per yard

Then gm to ounces is 35.2 oz times .646 which is 22.7 ounces per yard.

Coating material is very firm - you would prabably have to hammer that into pleats then rivet it to hold them.

Something a bit more bendable would be A GOOD THING.

Unfortunately, as I recall, this is one of those British Ebay sellers who charges an extraordinary amount for shipping to the US.

The total weight of my order is about 88 pounds and is a big package. I paid GBP 185 shipped by UPS. That's about $370/78.8 meters = $4.70 per meter.

A bit stiff, yes, but what would you pay if you bought tartan at retail FROM SCOTLAND, and still had to pay shipping and duty?

It's still a bargain - I believe my total with shipping and customs will be less than kiltmaker's price direct from the mill.

Part of this is going to the Clan Gordon for resale to support the activities.
