I want to talk to our HR manager about wearing a kilt to the office. I am sure that the answer will be no, but I want to 'shake the tree'. I have been thinking about what to say. Do you have any words of wisdom on the first time discussion with HR?

Since I haven't actually won my case I really can't say I have any words of wisdom but I think the best way to go about anything is politely and without being confrontational. There is a difference between being persistant and being stubborn: Persistance often pays off but stubbornness usually is returned in kind.

If you google that title, you'll find a trailer that makes it look interesting. You'll also find a site that, if you register, will let you watch the whole 34 min online.

Suggest it for your HR's viewing, or buy it, hmm.

Anyway, that's exposure in their language. Who knows, might work.
