			Buying advice

Hey lads, looking to buy a new kilt, have about $100 USD to spend. I have a UK Workmans and a SWK Economy (Wallace tartan) and am trying to decide what to get next. I am thinking of either a SWK Standard (Irish National)or an AK. I was also debating throwing in a little extra and getting a USAK Casual. Any thoughts?

If it were me I would save the little more and go for a USAK Casual, or if you really need one now then I would go for the Stillwater Standard.

Some of the regional tartans are very nice. I particularily favor the 'The America Heritage'. If they are not offering it in the $99 range yet, then 'The Scottish National' is not bad either.

I'd chip in the extra and go with a USA kilt or a Stillwater heavyweight wool. You've already got an acrylic kilt, no need for two if your expanding on a budget in my opinion
You've covered the "cargo" style kilt and the "budget" kilt. Personally, I'd go with a USA Casual before I'd go with the Stillwater just because it's machine washable, very comfortable and tailored to your measurements. But the Stillwater would be on order very soon after that as it's a great option to have as well.

 Good luck with the decision.

I'd definitely go with the USA casual...all of the good points that Cavscout mentioned especially the "wash and wear" aspect of them...that's a real plus in the summer time. I've got a couple of SWK acrylic kilts and they're okay...I'm waiting to see if Stillwater introduces any new tartans in the wool.
 Best

The American Heritage is only available in wool at the last time I checked, but I'm sure Rocky may try to get some PV made up in the future!

On a related note, and this may have been covered someplace else, I know Rocky sells his casuals in a "jeans waist" length and a "true waist" length. Now, as I have worm p@nts for a number of years, I am more accustomed to wearing kilts at the "jeans waist". Not a big deal with my UK, or the SWK either, for that matter. I have been thinking about getting the USAK in "true waist", but I sit often at my job, and was wondering if a kilt at "true waist" would feel too tight when sitting.

It's actually quite comfortable and provides great lumbar support.
USAK will make your casual kilt to whatever length you tell them to. If you want a low rider kilt to fit like your UK, measure your waist at that point and then the drop from that point and that's what your kilt will be. If you want it to ride up under your ribs, give them those measurements. Somewhere in between? Well you get the idea

I sit all day at work, and I wear my kilt to work everyday, recently I got a USAK Black Stewart, you can see it on this thread:http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=27853
I have been wearing the Black Stewart to work quite a bit lately and it, or even my 16ozers do not seem too tight even when siting. Not sure that I would be comfortable in the casual cut to my mind a kilt is meant to sit higher.
