Eventually, when I get some good pics of me in my great kilt, I'll post them. (My modern kilt, too...)
It's all relative, compared to soccer skirt man, this cousin is wrapped pretty tight....... but yeah, I have to agree with the above.
My general feeling is that for the kilt to come into modern acceptance, it has to evolve into a modern garment. Hopefully it can happen while preserving the traditions that make it such a grand garment.
Can't say that this strikes me as a step in the right direction. There is a lesson in that pic, but I lack to the fortitude and the will to uncover it.
But hey, if he is having a good time - he might be inspired to learn more. Let us pray.

I certainly appreciate this thread, and all the great advice.
I think once you accept work boots or tennis shoes or even a baseball cap as acceptable kilt accessories anything goes.
A few weeks back I saw a man out in a leather micro-Kilt, wearing a reversed fanny pack. Not something I would wear, but certainly just as valid.

Well, I strongly disagree with that. Wearing boots with a kilt is far different from some of the examples on this (now 100 page!) thread. There is a difference between a modern, casual kilt and a MacTablecloth wrap.
And to go back to the Renn Faire guy, he looks too clean. I think he should walk around in mud, sweat through his shirt, and coat his...err..."kilt" in lamb's piss. That way, it would at least be approaching how Scotsmen looked back in the day!

Ah yes, a week ago last Thursday. Those were the days.

Too Long
Looking at the first picture in this thread - with the exception of one of the gentlemen, I'd say all the kilts are too long. Should be right at the knee. I wonder what material they are made of?

In the olden days Scotsmen thought that the English had tails - so I doubt very much if they sported one!
The Kilt is my delight !

Well, yes. I think that's why P1M posted the pic with the following admonition:

You're not going to add your comments about the pics on all 100 pages, are you?

What i think is funny is that everyone evaluates "do's and dont's" in this thread. We post pictures, and usually have a pretty good laugh at some things.
I'm just waiting for someone to post a picture of someone in a kilt, and then the picture happens to be of someone on this list.
Just a thought that we might not want to "tear apart" every single picture we see TOOO bad, because we might eventually really offend someone. Remember that we all were inexperienced at this at some point too, but I'm sure most of us can laugh at the sillyness that we once portrayed. I will offer up a really silly picture of me years ago, to show how uneducated i was at one point in my kilt wearing life.
I still don't claim to be completely authentic, but I look much better than this nowdays.
That being said, I love this thread, and I get a LOT of laughs out of it, and thank you everyone for some of the gut busting laughs.
