if I sleep, the numbers will get me, if I sleep, the numbers will get me, if I sleep
OK, I'm not seeing it but it's right in front of me.
I have Rebecca's measurements and such, here's the plan:
Waist 34
Hips 41
Fell 7 (checked the rise and drop Steve, they're pretty even)
Length 13 (yep, that's what I said too ! )
Ok, 11-2" pleats would give me a 12 inch apron, 12 would give me a 10" apron but I'm having a difficult time figuring out what the taper would be either way. Could somebody please crunch those numbers, PLEASE ???
CT - math is just one of the services we suck at

Hmmm, both kilts that i have made look like they came out of rehab centers, and not very reputable ones. They way I do the math....
11x2 = 22; 41 - 22 = 19 apron tapering to 12 inches at the waist
22 + 19 = 41 hips: 22 + 12 = 34 waist.
or....
12 x 2 = 24; 41 - 24 = 17 tapering to 10 inches at waist.
24 + 17 = 41 hips: 24 + 10 = 34 waist.
The Xmarks instructions say to taper the pleats in an orderly manner to get a rectangular apron the way I read them.
for 2/3 pleats 41/3 - 13.6666666666666666666666666666666666666
so about 26 inches of pleats, 15 of apron. then if your taper is in the apron, it has to be 8 inches at the waist flaring out to an "A" line of 15 inches.
or to put the taper in the pleats for a rectangular apron -
First and last pleat, no taper. Leaves 11 pleats to taper 7 inches.... 7/11 roughly .63 inches per or.....
pleats 2,3,4,5,6 .6 inch taper (3.0) pleat 6 1.0 (4.0 total) , pleats 7,8,9 10, 11 .6 inches (7.0 total taper) gives 7 inches... don't know if that is even workable.
With that drop, would prolly be stunning even if I sewed it up, but hopefully somebody with much more skill than me will pitch in here.
I taper mine at the apron, so far haven't quite perfected that art form. But getting closer to a non-disaster.....

Oh somebody slap me ...
Out of all of that I realized I wasn't seeing it because I was looking at the wrong number.
Duh, it's tapering from 34 to 41 (shaking head at self ...)
OK, NOW I've got it.
And Thank You.

Yeah, it's easy.
she's 41 inches around the butt.
she's 34 inches round the waist.
That's a seven inch difference.
If you were gonna make a skirt with seven pleats, then you'd have to work in one inch of taper for each pleat.
If you were gonna make a skirt with 14 pleats, then you'd have to work in one-half inch of taper for each pleat.
If you were gonna make a skirt with 21 pleats then you'd have to work in one-third inch of taper for each pleat.
If you're going to make a skirt with ten pleats, then how much taper do you have to put into each pleat?

Answer: 7/10th's of an inch.
which is 0.7 inch....which is pretty close to 0.75 inch, which so happens to be 3/4's of an inch.
So taper each pleat a little bit less than 3/4 of an inch (if you're gonna have ten pleats) and she'll be stylin'.
