    What would Wallace have said?

At this rate if you get caught lighting a ciggie in a pub whilst wearing a seal fur sporran you could be locked up in Barlinnie for life!

Absolutely ridiculous. I wonder how long that will take to get into court.

"Harvesting Deer"? Does Santa Clause know about this? There's only one thing left to do. We can bump off strangers & Tourists & make "Traveller's Sporrans" $79.95) & "Stranger's Sporrans ($ 20 extra if they have tattoos). Better do it quick, as they're bound to institute a ban on that in a year or so. Most inconsiderate! Now I'll have to hide my Whale Sporran (It's rather large...)

I wonder if you will be required to have a metal disc, with the license number stamped on it, attached to your critter?

I know it sounds farcical but to people living in Europe we are getting use to absurd laws passed by the European Parliament.

I couldn't find any obvious reference to this on the Scottish Executive's web site. Does anyone have a suggestion for an authenticated source? (other than the BBC story?)

    Best regards

Flippin' 'eck, I'm in favour of protecting endangered species, but this is madness!
Looks like we'll all be wearing plastic sporrans before long!

I haven't been able to find one either. I have seen a question regarding the BBC's interpretation about "parts". The inference being that it is to do with using heads, claws etc rather than skin or fur.

We will have to watch this space.

In the Netherlands trading seal products will be forbidden in September (short notice), but nothing about owning those products.

    Makes more sense to me.

It's still not clear to me what the new UK law exactly means...will seal be banned in the UK also?
