Brecan,
Truly a thing of beauty. It make me want to run out and find a garage sale. Unfortunately in the LA area, not to many sets of antlers to be found.
I don't know much about rare earth magnets, where do you get them?

Great kilt pin. I have looked at your belt and sporran cantles too, you are a craftsman with great ideas. Please keep them coming.
I bought some of those magnets from a tool store in the hope of making a plaid broach which does not damage either the plaid or jacket with a pin.

Nice job! You might like to consider drilling a shallow hole in the back and using a smaller magnet so that the pin lies more flush onthe kilt.
