    Morrison Red; A Review

Ok, So as I shared with you lot in my other post: I recently won a Morrison Red, 8 yard, kilt on Ebay. I don't know what to say that these couple of pictures won't. It is an 8 yard kilt, 13 oz worsted wool, hand sewn (and WELL at that!) This kilt belonged to a piper and looks like he really treasured it. It is the Morrison Red in "ancient" shade. I have a Gilmore line back through my paternal Grandmother's side. But, I've actually wanted this tartan longer than I've know that thanks to Scott Gilmore. When I first joined XMTS, his Morrison Red JUMPED at me. What a SMASHING tartan. I'm not one who's very big on red tartans. But, this in the ancient shade is breath taking. I'll let the pictures show.

I bought this walking stick on our recent Utah trip. Makes for a great accessory I think.

Pleated to the green stripe, I think this is a wonderful look.

It seems I've read of this somewhere. But, I was still a bit suprised to see it. A pocket on the under-apron. Not sure what I would ever carry in this more than some breed of paper media. I really doubt I'll be doing that either though.

There aren't any tags to indicate who made this kilt. But, whoever did, did a fine job. It's a 24" length and I usually wear a 23". My SWK Irish Saffron fits me well. But, I was still a bit nervous on this one. But, alas, my hesiation was unfounded. The length is great and I don't have to wear it up at my nipples. It's a great kilt, and I'm a happy camper. I really now understand the presence of 8 yards of wool. It feels great.

Boy that is a beautiful tartan and well sewn kilt.

Jeff at Pittsburgh Kilts put pockets on the underapron of his kilts. I found them handy for carrying a small waterbottle - really - didn't show, or just tossing in a heavy pocket knife to help keep the apron down in the wind.

I think one of the highs of kilting is scoring a deal like you did...and you're a braver man than I to do it on ebay.

Those ancient colors look great with the oatmeal. I'd guess that most of the accessories and colors you wear with your Henderson ancient will work with the Morrison. A really good buy, Brad.

    Thanks guys.

I just realized this is the first shot I've taken while wearing one of the two belts I ordered from Cavscout a couple of months ago. This is a 2" in chestnut leather. I went for a plan, no embossing, no edge nothing belt. I really like it. The other I ordered is a 2" in black with the edge beading. I like it just as much.

Have to say I've never been over fond of red Tartens either, but that Kilt is outstanding! It really looks great and a good deal. Well done!

    Cheers.
