In Search of Cheap Kilt
Does anyone know where I can find a semi-traditional kilt with a 25 inch drop? (Measured navel to knee) which is inexpensive?

Forum sponsor Frugal Corner does custom length synthetic fabric kilts at a modest price ($55-81).

The stillwater kilts are a 24" drop, but if worn closer to the hips, it could work. The heavyweight kilts have gotten great reviews.

SWK also offers their Thrifty Kilt, but it is a 24" drop.
For me it was the perfect starter Kilt. Now I can hardly wait to have the money for more.

I'd recommend Stillwater Kilts (SWK).

Knowing how tall you are Frugal Kilts custom would be your best bet. If you don't mind wearing the kilt a little low SWK is your next best But Mark at Frugal has a better selection for tartans give him a call and se what they might have in your size.

As Robert of RKilts pointed out on another thread...
Go to WalMarche' and get the fabric you like.
Bring it home, lay a belt out on your bed, pleat the fabric over the belt, lay down on it, secure the belt, toss the balance over your shoulder. You've got an inexpensive kilt, made the way our ancestors kilted up.
Think of the money you'll save - even over the discount kilters.

This is a _really_ long drop if you actually measured from navel to top of knee. I've only ever measured one person in all my kiltmaking years who truly had a 25" drop, and he was over 6'5" tall. Anyway, if you're that tall, maybe you really need a 25" drop. Otherwise, you might want at least to try a 24" drop.
