Utilikilt Mock-u-mercial Entry
Well, I got an email from CJ at Utilikilts yesterday. They've received and accepted my entry into the 2007 Mock-u-mercial contest. That's the good news. The bad news is I threw something together in a week because I didn't find out about the contest until a week before the deadline. Then they moved the deadline to Halloween. Oh well. Anyway, without further ado, this is the quick n dirty version of my commercial idea. Shot in an afternoon, edited the next day and overnighted to UK...

It's sad to see something shot in HD ground up and made nasty by youtube... but whatcha gonna do?

Yeah, the script called for her to say something along the lines of, "You look nice...", but she just wouldn't say it. I had trouble not laughing my butt off as I left the frame each time. BTW, that is not my wife, that is one of my best friend's wife, which made it all the funnier.

Congrats, does that means you get a free kilt?
Best regards,

I think it does, but they didn't mention it in the email... maybe they all go out when the deadline passes...

Captain, has anyone ever told you that you could be a double for Mikey Teutle (from American Chopper)?

I thought the text could be cleaned up some, and the echo effect was annoying. The basic idea was great, though!

i like it bro...any married..or well taken gent has had the experience of getting "ready" ..in the man-sense of the word...then only to hear.." you are NOT wearing that to ( insert event here)!"
the production was good..id rather see your home made entry...as opposed to the superslick, i work for an ad agency..number.
and you do pass for mikey pretty well bro!

And she was right! As it stands, this one is brilliant; and that one word just makes it. Congratulations to all the contributors---especially the cute young lady with good taste.
Your original idea certainly has promise, but it would all depend on execution. If she could have achieved just the right arch look, and just the right "niiice" ...
[Note to our overseas and latitude-challenged friends: the southern American "I" does not have a diphthong in it. I mean, there is no "ee" on the end of the sound: it is a pure vowel.]
Still, a really good director knows when to run with the instincts of the artists with whom he is working, and you just proved it.
