Dude, I hope you don't mind. I put it up in a bulletin on Myspace. It is pretty good and I hope it ranks well among the submissions they recieved.

You're going to have to help me out with what echo effect you're talking about... because I didn't use one.

As for the text, you can blame Youtube for that. It's pristine and in Utilikilts.com same fonts that they put their logos in if you see it in the original HD or even the downrezzed version I made. It's just fulfilling the old adage: Quick, Easy, and Good: You can have two out of the three. Youtube chose quick and easy on their encoding...

I'm glad you guys like it, I had fun making it and would certainly enjoy making another one for the next contest... hopefully with more UK's by then!

Oh, and I've been compared to Mikey more than once... It's been the contributing factor to me cutting my hair and shaving my beard more than once... Not that he's a bad guy... I just like to be my own guy (hence kilt wearing I think).

Brilliant, speaking as someone who has been it the advertising game for 20 years I have to say I like it, it's simple and gets the message across, much better than some of the others I have seen.
Considering the time line and the fact that this was not done by in a studio but in your own home I think you should be proud of what you have done.

I like the "sizing-up-and-down" look she gave you when you walked into the room. Was that planned or impromptu?

Her whole performance was whatever she wanted to do. i told her the idea I wanted to convey and let her run with. That's the way I like to do things with people that can handle it...

There's nothing worse to the creative process than an over bearing director!

Ah - maybe as a female I picked up different things - after the look and the 'stud' comment I really thought that the two of you would be shown going separate ways - there was a sort of - something - as you walked in at which point I thought 'ah ha!!'

Maybe I am looking for - er, maybe - frisson?

It looks as though there might be a whole lot more to the story than just getting ready to go out.

I hope that your efforts are suitably rewarded.

If they've extended the deadline until Halloween, and you just "threw that one together" during a week, why not do up another one? I'll lay odds that, even if they'd not accept double entries, they'd let you replace your current entry.

That paragraph sounds negative, and it shouldn't be taken that way! I quite liked it. I did notice a couple of things, though. Me, I'd iron the UK before using it in the shot. After all, it's a Mockumercial, but that is just a Mock Commercial---I'd show the UK at it's best. (A counterargument would be that it looks good even wrinkly.)

Also, you showed a couple of outfits for the wife. The essentials of a wardrobe, right? And not just the neutral colored two inch heels, either, but a choice of outfits, both the little black dress and the hip hugging jeans. What about showing you in a couple of outfits, deciding what to go out in? UK and dress shirt, tie and bomber jacket, with hose and deck shoes. UK and sweater. THEN go with the broken in t-shirt.

Intended in a very constructive way! I'm not a jerk, I just play one on the internet sometimes.

    Good suggestions...

As it turns out, they capped entries the day after they got mine in and decided to run two contests this year, so I'm in with about 10 other people from what CJ said... which gives me a pretty good chance (4 prizes for 10 or 11 entries) of winning something.

The UK was ironed before the shoot started, but I shot the stuff with me in it last, so it had been through sitting waiting on people to show up, setting up lights, and a myriad of other things before I got around to shooting my stuff... Oh well, it just shows the UK at work, right?

Voting has been opened for the first 2007 Utilikilts Mock-U-Mercial contest! I'd like to say that I want all of you to go there and vote for your favorite one, but then I'd be lying... I want all of you to go there and vote for mine!

    Kevin,
While I do love your entry, I still think "Fire" is damn cool too.

And Not feeling "Difference" or "Oh My" both done by the same person. So apparently at least you used to be able to have multiple entries.

I think my voting order, would be "Fire", "Fashionable Male", "Rock your Freedom", and "Kilt Faerie"
