Thanks for the tip; I will try it on the dirty grey marks which come not from silver, but from the non-descript metal used for a Usakilt pin. On the synthetic cloth, I have tried soap, detergent and solvent to no avail. Most annoying, as the kilt is a surprisingly successful attempt at home sewing, one I like wearing.
