Once going into the local CVS I heard a little boy say to his Mom: "Look Mom! That man's wearing a skirt!". I was pleased to hear her educate him that I was in fact wearing a kilt.
This Saturday, though, I was at the local Public Market wearing my SK in US Navy tartan and an induhvidual came up to me and asked me if I made it out of a tablecloth. At the time I just laughed and explained what the tartan was. Looking back on it I can think of several other replies that would have been more appropriate. And some that would have gotten me arrested... <sigh>

Now that is just plain boorish and is the sort of comment that is likely to get your snout whacked.

Nae, Here's what I do - I tell them if my kilt offends them I will promptly remove it. Tends to snap them out of it, and that right soon.
Wal Mart kilting rules. a whole range of reactions and those poor bifurcated
souls smashing into things while staring @ U!
Pretty new to kilting myself, but already spending most of my time kilted. Even broke my Father in Law in on Sunday. No time like the first time lads.

I gave that some serious thought. But then I figured that with my luck I'd just get arrested for assault and battery... <sigh>

beowulf, nope no comments. I do recall that bar though. The most interesting was walking through Ripley's aquarium. It was almost like we were in an orb of silence the entire time. We could hear each other, but I don't remember the people around me saying much.

How does one act?
In reply to a "Woo Hoo nice legs!" from across the parking lot, does one bow or curtsey in a kilt?

today while out and about in my Desert Camo Utilikilt, I took my wife to see the new Harry Potter movie...of course during the movie we had some popcorn and sodas...and naturally by the end of the movie... we both had to do what most everyone else does... that's go to the restroom... Now, we've all been there... crowded restroom after a show lets out... everyone standing in line...I was a lucky one.. I got in there quick... did my business and headed out the stall..there stood about 10 guys..all needing to go ... and they all just stood there... jaws dropped... frozen in place... there was this little boy, about 5 or 6, he had to go BAD (doing the pee pee dance big time)... since all these guys that were ahead of him were frozen in place... his dad pointed to the stall and said.. go.. quick... so I guess my kilt saved him from peeing himself..
The while waiting for my wife to get out of the bathroom (women ALWAYS take forever in there)... I was getting the stares...and smiles..and giggles... then to my left... I heard the snickering.... the snickering of teenage boys... and it was getting closer... so I tightened up my chest and back muscles... and snapped my head to the left...with my best "don't mess with the special forces" stare I had right into the eyes of a teenage boy who was obviously walking up to be a smart **** (I'm a 10 year vet who spent a good portion as special forces)... he stopped in his tracks.. turned and walked rapidly back to his friends... it's amazing what that stare can convey... basically it says, mess with me or I'll hand yer **** to ya...
I did get a compliment on my kilt today too... this is the second time I've been at Lowe's and had a female employee there say they liked the kilt.... it's refreshing to know that some people in this world are smart enough to know what it is...and appreciate it...
