Hand sewn 13oz. wool in the Murray of Athol modern. I bought it for my wedding and fell in love!

My first was a tan Utilikilt Original. I've recently gained just a bit of weight and it fits me again. Not sure if that's a good or a bad thing.

I went with tank, but the truth is that my very first kilt was one that my Mum made for me when I was about 2 1/2 - 3 years old.
She made a kilt for me and one for each of my sisters.
I think I may have a picture around here somewhere.

First kilt was a great kilt in Aberdeen tartan that my wife had hand woven for me.

Second kilt was a tank, that was only worn for special occasions (then).

Third kilt was olive UK original (and this was back before they had the weird extra pleat under the apron and a hemmed bottom edge) that started the now daily kilt wearing.

First kilt: Locharron 4-yard casual in 13 oz in Northumberland tartan. Not quite "mass-produced" but machine stitched.

The first kilt was a Blackwatch "festival" kilt. In other words I knew nothing about quality when I bought my first kilt. The vendor gave me a pretty good kilt for the money ($100) but it was way too short. I was able to pick it apart and lengthen it recently so now I can wear it without embarrassment.

It was a good kilt though because it got me started. I now have 8 of which I have made 6....and there is more in my future
It don't mean a thing, if you aint got that swing!!

My first kilt was a Modern Grant tank made by the Celtic Craft Centre when they were still in San Francisco.
