    Unexpected

The young man (13yrs) who came for his guitar lesson yesterday really did surprise me. He is a relatively new pupil .. been coming about 5/6 weeks and has never seen me in my Cilt before. Yesterday I had my Cilt on. He is a confident and certainly not shy guy and talks non stop inbetween his concentration when playing the guitar. I really thought he would be one to take the 'mic' a bit about my Cilt .. I was waiting for it. Anyhow, I opened the door to him and he just came in, told me what he had been up to and we started the lesson. Not one mention of my Cilt at all. Then as he was leaving he said to me quite out of the blue, 'I like what your wearing by the way' .. I said it was a Welsh Cilt .. he replied 'Its really cool'. He then got on his mountain bike and then said he was gonna cycle the long way home, and he took off. Wonders will never cease.Iechyd DaDerek

Always good to get a cool reaction like that.

Chap turned up yesterday to read my electric meter. I was wearing my Hunting Robertson. He asked if it was a Welsh cilt - the usual reaction would be automatically assuming it was a Scottish one. So he must be aware of the existence of Welsh cilts at least.

He's going to Dumfries next week so he could see a few more around!

Thats a great story, it put a smile on my face, you never know what kind of reaction you will get. A friend of mine always says expect the unexpected, I guess this proves it yet again.

The really cool kids get it, Derek. Some of the poseurs, too, doubtless, but I think the real cool kids get it. Particularly the way (if I may be so bold) WE wear it. It's not a thumb in the eye to society, it's not "hey look at me" it's just a choice we've made, a path we've taken.

    Good news!
