more nice, high quality work.
How are you treating and finishing the wood ?
Have you tried Organoil ? I believe that it is made by an Australian company and it's lovely to work with.

I have tried the Organoil. It's great on the softer woods but doesn't seem to have much effect on the hardwoods. One thing I did discover though is to keep it away from the beefwood at all costs. The reaction was terrible. It took me four days & numerous products to try & neutralise it. In the end it took Oxcalic Acid, & I'm still not happy with the grain. It has darkened all that wonderful marbling effect.
Thanks for all the wonderful comments guys. Although I do them for fun & relaxation, they've inspired me to put one up on ebay & see what kind of reaction I get! If it doesn't mean cutting Rab's grass, I'd be honoured to make a sgian for a member or two.

Go for it, it's better that folks are offered a good choice.
Thanks for the Organoil tip, saves me messing up the beefwood you sent.
best regards,

Stunning examples of craftsmanship. I love the multiple woods and the glow of the finish. Do you flatten one side, or are they symmetrical?

I keep the backs flattened. I try to avoid decorating them as much as possible to show the beauty of the timber. My preference is for the less common native aussie timbers rather than the exotics, as we have so much beautiful wood here, it deserves to be seen.
