Maple leaf tartan
I was all set to order a Maple Leaf Kilt from CCK and ended up having to move and change jobs. I am now getting married and will be doing so kilted. Does anyone have a small swatch of Maple Leaf tartan they can send me so that I can show her what it looks like . I have sold her on the full PC outfit but now it comes down to tartan selection and either having the kilt made or renting. I will gladly pay shipping and return the swatch after I show it to her if you need it back. I would love to be able to wear this tartan at my wedding and need to get started on having it made. I am looking for PV if possible.
Thanks in advance
John

I don't have a swatch of maple leaf, sorry. The best I can offer is a pair of pictures, one wedding-related. This is me getting married in maple leaf last August:
And here is a close-up shot of the tartan that I recently took on Canada Day (I was using a Canadian coat-of-arms pin as part of a kilt pin that day).
Good luck. I hope someone can provide you with a bit 'o fabric. Congrats on choosing the best handsome tartan there is for your wedding!

Why not PM MacHummel I am sure he would send you out a swatch.
Oh here I am in Maple Leaf:
And a close up of the tartan, and buckle:
You could also take a look at my album at kiltphotos, the link is in my signature. Good luck.

fhpdo, I have a swatch I can send you. PM me your address and I'll ship it Monday. As I've said numerous times, photos just don't do justice to the colouring that Pete selected. As for a pc I'd consider the Welsh variety (some on help me with the name) that includes the tartan in it. Perhaps too soon to welcome you to the Maple Leaf family but welcome anyway.

Thanks Guys!
I knew I could count on you guys!
Now it's a matter of trying to
A) Convince her that this is the tartan I "need" to wear instead of one of the stock tartans from a rental place.
B) Find out if I can get it made on time.
C) Find out if CCK has the tarten available to make one my size.
Thanks again
John

Pete (MacHummel) is at a festival this weekend but I'd imagine once he's back you'll get a swift answer from him. I seem to remember him orderinng some "extra" Maple Leaf tartan (in PV) over and above our recent group order but I don't know how many orders he's had since then.
A wedding in Florida in August? Yes, you really do want PV.
Good luck!

I was going to let Pete answer but since he's busy... Yes he has enough material for a few more kilts. He is also pretty quick t gettting kilts built and out. Seeing as school is out I beleve Pete has time on his hands.

Your wedding takes place ahead of mine, so Pete can move my Maple Leaf kilt down the order. Best wishes for your wedding day and for ever more.
The photos of the lads wearing their ML kilts does justice to the tartan but not the up-close photo. The colours are washed out. It'll look great with a full black PC. It really is a lovely tartan, and if you're Canadian it'll be a great choice.

Wow, what a great tartan... Not being from Canada, I never really looked at any of their tartans. You definitely need to convince her to let you wear that one.
Also, not to horn in, but is there a problem with the website for Canadian Casual Kilts or did it move (I'm trying http://www.canadiancasualkilts.com)? And is Pete (MacHummel) of CCK or another company? If he's from another company, does he have a website? I might really, really want to get a kilt in this tartan (especially in the Texas friendly PV). Of course, I do not want to interfere with fhpdo's or scoutniagara's weddings, but I might like to get on a waiting list... =)
Also, if nothing else works out, you can order a swatch here (one of X Marks advertisers)
