    Acrylabeast Sporran (with leather tooling)

    Hi folks!
I've been busy making another sporran.
This comes from hide of another acrylabeast. This one is the South American variety and although the pelt is not as sought after as the fabled White Arctic Acrylibeast, it still has a nice look to it. Be careful if you run across one of these things though. This little nasty bugger bit me!!

The carved leather design is special to me. A Scottish ancestor of mine was born in the town of Eassie in County Angus. There at an abandoned church is a pictish cross slab. The design on the leather is the design on one of the cross pieces.

This is held together with a magnetic snap, and the back and strap are all fashioned out of a purse that I salvaged from a thrift store.

It's very soft and comfortable to wear and it hold everything comfortably.
    Thanks for looking

It looks great. The tooling is excellent. How long did it take to make?

    Thanks!
I wore this just yesterday to church and I couldn't be happier with it.

It's hard to say how long it took to make since I only worked on it in-between working on kilts. I actually took the pouch part of if with me on business trips so I would have something to sew on in the evenings. Everything is hand sewn and not hard at all since the majority of this is Nauga. The hand tooling was fun. That took a couple of days but that was probably only because it was the first time I had ever worked in leather. I could do it much faster now.

I'll definitely be doing more. Having seen this sporran in use though, my wife now wants me to hand tool a purse with some celtic designs on it for her.
So....I'll work on that in-between kilts.
