    Talking Family Support!!!

    I'm on cloud 9!

When my Mom was down last weekend, I showed her my kilt...which was met with mixed reactions...

    "It's a nice pattern...the pleats look good. I just...I just don't understand."

But, tonight, she told me she found me a pair of kilt pins! They're the military safety-pin style, which is cool. But the big news is that she bought it for me!

This is just one of many random endeavors I've participated in, and one that is the most important to me. To finally have my family's support thrills me down to the soul!

Now I'm just stuck with the jones for the pins to get here!

    Just thought I'd share.

    Yeti,

This is indeed cool. I know that becoming kilted can cause varied reactions within the family. My wife is still having moments when she's not liking it. It was starting to get to me when she kept saying skirt, so we had a talk.. then on the 4th her sister called it a skirt, which I gently corrected, then moved on. Later my good lady wife got on me about how people will occasionally refer to my kilt as a skirt, etc. I told her I could accept ignorance from others but that I expected more from her.

This seemed to work for now.

I'm sure that many have had mixed reactions, and I am delighted that your Mother got "on board" so quickly!

    Cheers,

congrats on yer mom supporting you with the kilt...to bad more families aren't like that...

I wish I had more support from my family... I know if my mother was still alive, she'd be very supportive... she always did love a man in a kilt... my dad, he just looked at me...shook his head and that was it...my oldest sister...all she had to say was well.. you always did follow the beat of a different drummer... my youngest sister.. her and her son laughed..and her son even went as far as to say nice dress... after an attitude adjustment he didn't say anything else

but, I do get a lot of support from my wife and kids...both my boys want kilts..and I have the support of a large number of friends that are kilted...that and I'm comfortable in my kilt and I guess that's all that really matters...

What does your fiancé think of being kilted?
My wife does not like it, but my mom has interest in it.
