I never expected to see a kilt in a small-town market square in southern Spain, but, for once, mine was not alone. Well it was new year's eve.

I wouldn't expect to see a kilt downhill skiing either but, if I remember correctly, someone here has done that and posted a picture.

Those that understand binary, and those that don't.

I wonder if he even has one, never seen a picture of him wearing one in any situation. He didn't wear one at his wedding.
In fact to cast the net a bit wider, the numbers of photographs of kilted Scottish politicians is somewhat limited.
There was an MP (now deceased), named Nicholas Fairbairn, who did wear a kilt frequently, but he seems to be somewhat of an exception.

...
Like the blazer, the kilt never seems to have been accepted traditional business attire, unless perhaps your business is attending to tourists.
I know there are a few kilt-wearers, like cessna152towser, who carry it off very well despite this.
Personally, I would be surprised to see a Scottish police officer wearing a kilt on duty. Or has this ever been seen?

At various Highland Games here in Ontario, the local police are sometimes kilted on duty, which looks really cool as you can imagine.
I don't have any pics and there was a thread about this a while back too.

That would be Ozone. He uses one of his pics as his av.

Maybe not Scottish but the PD in Estes Park, CO typically wear the Estes Park tartan during the highland games the second weekend of September every year. Not the reserve or auxillery but the regular officers.

Kilts in unexpected places

Mind you after the then First Minister, Jack McConnell's disastrous soujourn in a kilt at last year's Tartan Day in New York, perhaps its better we do not see our politicians kilted, although our new First Minister Alex Salmond has frequently worn a kilt and it suits him
Your point about Scottish policemen in kilts is interesting, I would be very interested to find out if there ever was an occasion when policemen in Scotland wore their kilts on duty although we know that a great deal of Scots policemen have their own kilts and of course police pipe bands are commonplace.
Of course I think it would be difficult to take kilted police on duty seriously especially on a Saturday night in Sauchiehall Street. I find that I cannot take police cyclists with their luducrious lycra shorts seriously, I think if they were arresting me I would go into fits of laughter

I knew someone would mention Jack!
But I didn't see any kilts in the chamber when the Queen opened the Parliament which is sad.
