How about our House of Commons, our prime minster is a scot, would be nice to see him wear a kilt to prime minsters question time.

Well, I can answer one of the above situations. It was strange feeling to say the least.

I have also worn a kilt to a St George's Day festival in the Home Counties of England, the funniest bit is that the only people to cooment on my choice of dress were foreigners.

As for somewhere I wouldn't expect to see a kilt, how about in an olympic swimming event.

I never expected to see a kilt in a small-town market square in southern Spain, but, for once, mine was not alone. Well it was new year's eve.

I wouldn't expect to see a kilt downhill skiing either but, if I remember correctly, someone here has done that and posted a picture.

I wonder if he even has one, never seen a picture of him wearing one in any situation. He didn't wear one at his wedding.

In fact to cast the net a bit wider, the numbers of photographs of kilted Scottish politicians is somewhat limited.

There was an MP (now deceased), named Nicholas Fairbairn, who did wear a kilt frequently, but he seems to be somewhat of an exception.

Like the blazer, the kilt never seems to have been accepted traditional business attire, unless perhaps your business is attending to tourists.

I know there are a few kilt-wearers, like cessna152towser, who carry it off very well despite this.

Personally, I would be surprised to see a Scottish police officer wearing a kilt on duty. Or has this ever been seen?

Last place to expect to see a kilt

A few years ago I went skiing in the Cairngorms in Scotland, I was dared to do this and also to go regimental. It was in the middle of winter, plenty of snow and was brass monkey weather.
I believed that no one else would be mad enough to do this but on arrival I found that in the Cairngorms, in Winter, kilted skiers were not unusual as there were a few more kilties about and apparently its a common sight.

    Totally surprised me.
