Hi Colin
Yes, still in the job. Doing more or less the same. Have 20yrs in this Friday!!
It makes you feel very old when you're working alongside colleagues young enough to be my offspring!! But I can still turn a trick or two!

Ah, David. If only I had known!! Luckily where I am (on the Tyne Estuary) we have had few problems with flooding, though plenty of rain, thunder, lightening, wind and yesterday, hail stones as big as marbles!!
We get some localised flooding on some of the main roads but nothing we can't cope with.
Happy to say we don't get as much rain as Bergen! (Looking forward to my next visit to the fish market!). We're off on a cruise to Iceland on Monday, revisiting Bergen and Flam on the way back.
Hope all is well with you

Al ! Me ol' mucker! It's great to hear from you again and to know that you are still doing the right thing. That wee gathering we had in Auld Reekie seems like years ago now, and probably it was! I heard from Jack a few weeks ago - just a base-touching exercise - and Nigel is still running IMFF, although he is re-building his server (or whatever one does with servers) meaning that it is currently off-line, including my Photo Album!
Hope you are going to stick around now that you've re-established contact.

Welcome back, Al. I guess you have about 10,000 or so posts to catch up on what has been happening here.

Well, Hamish, I will certainly try. I've always been here in spirit just rarely have the chance to sit at the computer these days.
Good to hear that Jack is OK. And that Nigel is still strutting his stuff so to speak. Also good to see so many familiar faces still posting. I wonder if Chris from Toronto is still around? There's a name I haven't seen yet.
One thing which will interest you. (And hopefully others which is why I mention it here). A very close friend of mine has been doing my family tree. Not doing so well on the Scottish front (not that that matters) but found out my paternal great grandfather and subsequently a long line after that herald from in and around Brighton and Lewes.
AND, more excitedly, we have got back to 1081 which in turn means I have managed to trace a line forwards to the current monarchy. I am 18th cousin of Charles, Anne, Andrew and Edward. Pity my dad isn't around any more to tell him he is 17th cousin of HRH! (Along with a million others, but at least I can prove it).
I'm now discovering villains in the family which only adds to my street cred.
We will talk some more

Can I suggest that you by pass the huge gift shop on the quayside in Flåm and get the train from Flåm to Myrdal It is one of the great train rides. It doesn't take long and is well worth it believe me.

Yes, we did that last time we were there. An impressive train ride up into the mountains. We even saw some snow, and it was July and very warm. I know what you mean about the gift shop!
Not sure what we'll do this time. If there's a tour we may take it just to see somewhere different.
Was in OSLO last year. LOVED the VIgeland Park and finally got to see Kon Tiki after almost 40yrs of wanting to. Something I studied in school.
