My dumb idea for kilt pin
I'm thinking about how to adapt a Harken mini bullet block (sailors here will know what that is) for a kilt pin.
Pic

This is about the size of a quarter. :eyeroll: I figure, if I make one, I'll probably be the only one wandering around with one on.
Then again, maybe a little stainless anchor shackle would be better...

Now, if I could find an astrolabe kilt pin..........

How about this?
This is just about the correct size:

But I suspect my grandfather would jibe in his grave if I did........

I suspect that you could proably find a sextant pin of some sort.
By the bye, Kevin, your photo link is broken.

Alan love the block idea and the shackle. I would think that even a small shackle might be too much weight. So possibly grinding it down to half thickness might be an idea and go with rare earth magnets. I am partial to nautical fare, I have a 14k gold shacle earring that I wear. Probably overpaid onebay but I just had to have it. Now to go with block and tackle from belt to kilt pin for the salty ladies who want to do a kilt check...

I don't know about a kilt pin working, but if you got a bigger shackle it would make a fantastic belt buckle.

If you could get your hands on a Popski's Private Army cap badge , you would have a grand kilt pin ..... 'cept you would run the risk of being debagged by the desert rats

What about making up a tiny wood-shelled stropped block? Even more arcane, but I think it'd be very cool.
