Hi Mudd,
Allenhead and Allendale are very close to each other so it could be either. South West of a small Northumberland town called Hexham. Lots of Roman history around those parts including the Roman Wall which was built right across the country to keep the Scots OUT!!! No such luck these days lol.
There used to be mining, but no more. The whole industry has disappeared completely in recent years.
