You wore your kilt. You were comfortable, you showed some self-confidence, you did what YOU wanted and didn't stomp on anybody else along the way..
AND...
you looked good doing it.
Those guys in the car? They DID'NT.

I will tell you the entire story, I said nothing to her I was walking my dog, when she went past me she stared and said something about my sexual orientation due to the fact that I was wearing a skirt. I said nothing to her. I ignored her and kept on walking, what bothered me the most was the fact that here was someone, in the dress of their culture and country, looking askance at me for doing the same. To say I was shocked is an understatement.

Thanks, I figured that you were good. I hope you're not offended, I didn't mean it to sound that way.
That is an odd sequence, but learning to accept others is a hard lesson for some people. Hopefully, you contributed to opening up her paradigm of the world. Toronto has always been one of the most open places I've been to.

Glad your first day out was a good one! Too bad about the carload of uninformed men, but it happens.
This is a great puzzle to me, the speculation on sexual orientation. Personally, I don't want to know what anybody else (excepting the Mrs.) kilted or not, does when they "get their freak on".
Why anybody would speculate on such matters regarding myself is beyond my ability to comprehend. Those pre-disposed towards wasting their brain power in such a fashion are way below my radar, unless it comes down to personal safety.
If somebody wants to think I am gay I hope it makes their life richer. If they want to tell me they think I am gay, I will probably just tell them I don't think they have that kind of cash on them and wish them better luck in their pursuit.
We are doing the right thing here. In my second month of kilting ( I think) the unwashed 'round here are already starting to take no notice of me. More men in kilts, less negative reactions.
The positive reactions far outweigh the negatives. The difference for my battle scarred right leg is huge. It makes me feel good about myself, and I'll bet it does for the rest of us.
Damn the gaydar, full speed ahead. If some poor uninformed soul thinking or stating that I am a homosexual is the worst thing that happens to me, that is a pretty darn good day. My wife will still make dinner when I get home, unless I get home first. Either way, supper will be served. World safe. All is well.
Great first outing I say. Like the rabble told me after my first "outing", it only gets better. Kilt on.
P.S. And Keith, why would those fellows call you a FLAG? (ryhmes with hag.. f....g) a USAK looks nothing like a Flag! better report that license plate to MV so they can get that driver an eye test pronto. McMurdo, you look totally masculine in your outfits. better get some help for that lady in the burka. Perhaps her veil is obscuring her vision. Could be a safety issue.

Ach. I'm 6 foot 4 inches 285 lbs. Full beard.
Piped a wedding this last weekend...got nothing but smiles, but then I was carrin' the pipes, eh. One sweet old woman walked up with a big smile and said, "I like your outfit." She later came up and took several pictures of me.
I get a little uncomfortable trying to wrap m' wee mind around the notion that I am wearing an "outfit." But most don't know what to refer to the kilt, jacket hose etc. Outfit comes as close as one might expect.

Outfit huh?
Would you believe that I had one young lady come up to me and say that she liked my "ensemble"?
Had me scratching my head for days after that....
It don't mean a thing, if you aint got that swing!!

You know, if it's not the kilt it is the haircut. Or the shoes. Or the brand of jeans. Or your tattoos... and on, and on, and on. Some people just are too worried about what others wear. Like Frank McGrath said earlier, just remember the Golden Rule.

I thought the idea was to keep the kilt down? Luckily for me, being bearded, 6'2" and 350 lbs tends to keep the negative comments to a bare minimum. The ones that do come my way I tend to ignore, or laugh off. Of course, being 6'2" and 350 lbs, I have learned to laugh off a lot of stuff.

So the Golden Rule of Kilting is something like "if I have the Gold, my Rule is to order another kilt!!", right? (And, of course following the other steps in our 12-step regimen.)
