I'm thinking wear your usual kilt, hose and and sporran, and get a 1970's ruffle-front tuxedo shirt and a velvet bow tie...AND perhaps a big shaggy wig or maybe a realistic looking afro wig! Cool!
The ruffle-tux shirt and velvet bow tie are "must haves"!
I'm sure glad I'm not old enough to remember the 70's...the photos are bad enough!
Good luck!

I think it might have smelt purple, mostly. With a sort of maroon aftertaste in the later part of the decade.
Now the 60s - I know I was there because I can sing all the words to the songs on the eight cd 'best of the 60s' set - but the 70s - I must have been somewhere else.

I have to call shenanigans if anybody at the party critiques your outfit of choice.
If they claim to remember what was worn in the Seventies, they weren't there!
Use the force, trust your feelings.
