Ride to avoid
If you ride Space Mountain, you may have to ride in the front of the car. Each car carries two passengers and the person in the back has to straddle the person in the front.........otherwise no worries! Have a great trip!

There's no reason not to go kilted. However, some of the rides may cause that kilt to fly up, and since there are ALWAYS lots of kids there, it would be wise to wear something under the kilt.

Hate to say you're right, but I would have to agree. Also with a LOT of walking, I'll probably want something on anyways.
Or else you might see on the news: "This just in, the forest surrounding disney world was set ablaze today by sparks resulting from underneath a man's kilt. Investigators point to a lack of Body Glide & underpants. More on this story after the break..."

Btdt
My wife and I have done Disney World four times now: Honeymoon, 5th, 10th, and 15th.
I was kilted for the last - but only part-time. Lemme explain:
I wore pants to half the parks, kilts the other. My reasoning followed the ease (or lack of) boarding a ride. Many times you have to step down into a small space, carrying a daypack or a fanny pack and a ball cap, sit, stow your gear, and be ready to "launch" in a matter of half-a-minute. Add "sweep the pleats" to the list and those were the rides I wore pants for.
I was kilted for Epcot and Disney Studios (formerly Disney MGM). I was panted in the Magic Kingdom. We visited Animal Kingdom twice - I wore a kilt once and pants the other. We got drenched in the Kali River Rapids while I was wearing my PK... but I felt the effects less than my shorts-wearing wife because it didn't cling to my legs. Expidition Everest I did both ways. My wife held my fanny pack while I boarded, but otherwise that would have been dicey because the cars are small.
Except for the boarding, I was not have hesitated to wear a kilt any- and every-where. A sporran in the lap might be handy sometimes (like the Kali Rapids - you're seated right across from strangers), but that's my only caution.
I experience no negative reactions from anyone, cast or guest.
Did have one odd moment, though:
We had just picked up dinner at the counter-service Mexican restuarant, and were headed for seats. I was hot, tired, and really wanted a little peace and quiet.
Another guest got up from her seat, stalked straight up to us, and exclaimed: "You're wearing a kilt!"
To which I replied, politely, "Yes, I am."
She forcefully stated: "I want to take your picture!"
I sat down, and said: 'That's nice."
She was a bit nonplussed, and commanded: "Stand up!"
(Hmmm... how to proceed? My kilted bretheren are counting on my furthering the cause, but this lady is starting to tick me off and I just want to eat in peace! I'm not a display, after all!)
Before I could speak, I think she realized she was being a bit of an @ss, so she continued:" My husband wore a kilt in our wedding, and I've never seen someone wearing one out-and-about. I want to show our firends at home!"
Now, THAT I could support. I stood, checked my pleats, stood against a backdrop of her choosing, smiled, and held my tongue.

We'll have to meet up. I just live down the road from the parks.
You'll be fine around the holidays. It's a great place to visit at those time.
Another thing most people miss is just going to all the different resorts on property. Each one is different and cheap to visit! You can take a bus to everywhere on property and enjoy some of the events that happen everyday.
Maybe we can hook up and have a beer and watch Off Kilter!

tp_magill thanks for the info. We're actually eating a counter service at the Mexican place too right when we get there. Then to Le Cellier for dinner and the Bell Chorus thing right after that.
RCallan, we take full advantage of the other resorts besides the one we're staying at. The Grand Floridian houses the Life Size Gingerbread house and decorations. The Boardwalk is also a beautiful place to look at the xmas lights. We'll be having dinner at the California Grill atop the Contemporary Resort one night with a very impressive view of the fireworks from Magic Kingdom. Having the Unofficial Guide to Disney World has helped in the most often overlooked details of our trip. We carry it with us all over WDW.

I just got back from Disney World for the first time. I took the family down last week and was kilted part-time. I wore my kilt mainly to dinner. After being at the parks all day we would got back and freshen up. (Florida in July is hot and muggy) I'd usually put on a kilt and got to dinner and then go back to the parks that night. Only road a few rides kilted but didn't seem to have any problems. I'll post a few picks later.
My wife and I are planning to make this a regular trip for our family vacation. While your there be sure to check out Off Kilter in the Canada section of Epcot. Didn't get to see them but I've heard they are great.
