Our friends in Portland are very into Live Action Role Playing Games (LARP). In a LARP one assumes the role of a fantasy character and acts the part. There is combat with padded "weapons" and various rules for pretending of spells and such. A "Game Master" walks with the group explaining the story, sets and props, and various costumed "Non player characters" for the players to interact with. Sound silly? It is! It is also a great lot of fun. It reminds me much of being a kid again pretending to be Robin Hood, Sinbad,or Zorro.
I and my friend Mark
Corwin Silverwood of the Darrow Rangers takes aim!
The F-H.C.A.G. as "Kendra, Warrior Babe of the Outlands" (based on a character from some of Christopher Moore's amusing novels) stopping during the game to pick black berries. I do not make any comment about her shield design, save to say that my lovely wife is significantly weirder than I am.
The heroes pretend to cross a chasm on a rope bridge that is falling apart.
I wasn't the only one kilted at the game (though Erik had taken off the other parts of his costume at this point.
More to come...
