    Glasgow Anti-terrorist Program

The terrorists who drove the SUV into the airport in Glasgow last month succumbed to his massive burns and died yesterday. While reading an article on this I saw the following and just had to smile .... you don't mess with the Glasgow - they have one heck of an Anti-Terrorist program!

" ..... a Glasgow airport baggage-handler who tackled him immediately after the attack was personally thanked by British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, who hailed him as a hero.

John Smeaton, 31, made headlines worldwide after giving a television interview explaining why he tackled the suspected bombers despite the danger.

"This is Glasgow, you know -- we'll set about you. That's it," he said at the time.

Brown said: "This is a very brave man and a very courageous man and I think the whole country owes John a debt of gratitude. He is a hero and we are proud of him." ......"
"I find that a great part of the information I have was acquired by looking up something and finding something else on the way."

John Smeaton really is a hero, the only good thing to come of this is his story.

They had him out in the centre circle pre match last week at the Rangers Chelsea football match, got quite a cheer.

On top of that he has donated half of the money raised in the "buy him a pint" campaign to Erskine hospital for Ex servicemen ( around £2.5k i believe)

I cant believe the amount of press already garnered by this one individual's brave act. Good on yeh! I say!

Now if some of those pints would be donated to a few kilties as they traverse the glasgow airport hilton..... just kidding

He sounds like a good, hard-working Scotsman who did what any person with BIG b**ls would do in that situation. If only more american politicians showed the same spirit and gumption....
