Ron, as backhanded as it sounds, you got permission. Print that up for your records and go with your kilts.

    Thanks guys,

My plan is to wait and see how things flow with the CEO. I imagine we'll talk when he's not busy.

As Alan suggested, I have a back up plan of submitting a list of Celtic holidays, which if they fall on a work day, they can expect to see me kilted, as well as Fridays, and any days where we have long meetings or trainings scheduled.

Last night I was talking with the chairman of the board of the agency, he's a friend but we don't cloud the friendship with agency issues and I didn't bring this issue up. Anyway, the chairman was trying to convince a friend of his to enroll in the agency for counseling and he said to the man, "Ron's the best counselor at the agency." I immediately pointed out that all the counselors at the agency are good.

Later, thinking about it, the chairman was forming his opinion based on feedback from my clients who received counseling while I was kilted.

Anyway...more is yet to come. Thanks for the support and suggestions.

    Ron
And I still contend if my little town can handle a Sushi Bar and a Thai restaruant then it can well handle kilts.

Ron, I understand that the town zoning board heard about the intolerance towards your kilt wearing, and are now requiring the Sushi Bar to call themselves a "Bait Shop" ... seems that they got wayyyyy to progressive there for a minute.

Hang in there Ron, I know you don't want the opinion that you are rubbing it in their face, and I think it's a great move to speak to the CEO and get the air cleared.

You are an honorable gentleman, and it shows in the results of your counseling, as well as your decorum on the job!

If you're still hesitant that's okay, you're there. The rest of us are out here safe and sound.

If I may, I would suggest taking the email your supervisor sent you when you talk with the CEO and say something along the lines of: the answers not as clear as I'd like it to be, there's no point in doing something that you, the CEO, doesn't want done and feels trapped into doing.

I wouldn't be bringing up the health issues at this point because a kilt isn't a universal remedy.

I would also hold back on the Celtic holidays because they're not "real" and you really want to be able to do this full-time. If the CEO hems and haws, gives a slight approval then you can offer them as a compromise.

Anyway, that's my advice, well, except for this. You know all this, you're trained in this. Go to high sacred ground and meditate on this as if you were trying to persuade two clients to do something they've already acknowledged they should do, or how one client should proceed when two others in power have okayed something but still seem to block it.

As a McGregor, the clan that invented Blackmail, I suggest you don't underestimate the power of that email.

Peace, relax, and a big bottle of green tea and pomegranate.

    As you were.

    Kilt on, bro

Go, have fun, don't work at, make it fun! Kilt them, for they know not, what they wear. Where am I now?

Seems to me the real issue is performance. If you're performing your job as well or better than the other counselors, they have no reason to control what you wear.

Apparently they think you're their best counselor, so what is their complaint about your kilts based on? I would say, "Irrational fear."
