So, as the rabble wears the kilts and deals with the issues, please think of me spending the next period of time in TR***ERS! (Oh the agony!)

No need for that. Put down the white man's burden. Do what I often do when there. Go native! Wear a lunghi! It may be heretical to say it here, but trust me, they are more comfortable than kilts. Their light cotton goes well with the hot climate.

I would think that not only would you have no problems wearing them on your time off, but you might well be able to wear them to work.

I am really quite happy for you. There is nothing like one's first trip to Mother India. It can be quite an adventure.
