Congrats on the new balmoral! What color combination have you chosen?

    colors

I prefer understatement, regarding matters of attire, so a simple plain black balmoral was my choice.

Hoping it will go with my plain black kilt, and Black Watch kilt.

With luck, my new kilt will arrive in next couple days.
I've enlisted the services of my 18 year-old daughter to take some photos, this weekend of us.
My wife, in her (Polish/Ukrainian) peasant dress, and I in my kilt(s).

Hopefully, soon, you good gents will be able to critique my assemble, thus far.

    I fear you're lost.

Hi, I'm Jim, and I'm a kilt addict. (Hi, Jim)

I own something like 10 bonnets and several berets as well, and I just keep adding to the other stuff I have. (Hose, belts, sporrans, kilt pins, KILTS, etc.)

The great thing about a shaved head like yours (aside from the looks) is that you can wear hats differently from those of us who are aerodynamicly challenged. Check out the look of the Foreign Legion soldeirs with their small berets that sit high on the head. You can only get that look with very short hair or none at all.

We can hardly wait to see your bonnet. My first--and favorite still--was a plain black/navy bonnet with black/navy toorie. It's really salty now, and it's still the favorite, just gets better with age! The white roggon cockade I sewed on about 9 years ago is a little dingy, but I think that adds character along with the USMC "clan" badge. (Clan McPuller for those of you who get it.)

I won't guarantee you'll like the result, but I take any new bonnet I have and give it a good soaking in cold water, shape it to my head, and then let it air dry (in the shade!) It takes the weird creases outof it and makes it look kind of worn and loved and well-used.

Hope you enjoy it. If it ever cools off any, I'll drag mine back out and start wearing them again. During the cooler days, I wear a bonnet or regimantal tam almost every day.
