Thank you very much to everyone for the warm welcome. And to the moderator that approved this thread, I apologize for attempting to post it some 4(?) times or more. I was having problems with my net connection last night, and thought it kept failing. Then, the last time I tried to post it, I got the message that the thread would be first approved by a moderator. Woops!
I have to say, that I've been wearing a kilt pretty much each evening, to many different activities, the movies, a CFL game, shopping, to restaurants, even to my weekend employer (a hockey shop) and have had pretty much universal positive reaction to them. The most negative comment that I've heard so far was , "What the heck are you wearing?!" but was later followed up that evening from the same person with, "I gotta get me one of those kilts."
Lee, I am very much looking forward to the Freedom Kilt. I went with a cargo model with all the options, in the maroon fabric. Steve had a few suggestions, and I'm anxiously awaiting the results. If it looks half as good as I picture it in my head, it'll be amazing.
Raphael, How often are the Kilts nights? And where are they held? Maybe by that time I'll have the kilts screened as well.
Big Mikey, Where in Langley are you? Although I live in Vancouver, I grew up in Aldergrove (where my parents still live) and I actually work in Langley.
Kid Cossack, I'd actually love to find out if anyone out there makes a modern/contemporary version of a hakama nowadays. I think that would look pretty good as well.
TORSCOT7007, I haven't been back over to the island in a few years, but would like to get back over there some day. Especially nice would now be a chance to stop by Steve's shop and have a look around.
thescot, The weather here in Vancouver is actually pretty moderate. We never really get too cold, nor do we ever get too hot. I think the workmans UK's in the duck cloth will work really well, as duck cloth seems to be a bit more water repellant, and we do get more than our fair share of rain. I don't know if I'll ever get into the tanks. In my mind, they seem like they would be a bit more uncomfortable (itchy, heavy, hot) than the modern mugs.
Casper, Can you give me some more info on your avatar? I'm wondering what all makes up the different pieces of it.
Thanks again everyone!
Mike
