Even an affordable kilt with the right stuff looks great!
I am the second one from the left, I am wearing my 16oz. Hunting Stewart from Frugal Corner that cost me $68.00. No one there could tell the difference and the other three are wearing kilts from $350.00 up.

I take it the gentleman on the right is a Lodge GM but looks like the sporran and the apron are having a battle for dominance.

He is a Past Master of Brandon and Desota Lodge here in my area. We were doing a Masonic Funeral for a brother we knew. I have been trying to talk him into a new kilt because his does not fit right anymore, but when he was Master of Brandon Lodge he wore that kilt in the east for every meeting. I am not sure what is correct removing the sporran or putting the apron over the spooran. I know you can't put the sporran ontop the apron.

Well I hope you manage to persuade him to get a new kilt John! 
I don't know what is correct either but I have seen Masonic processions in Scotland and those who were kilted wore their sporrans completely under the apron. Presumably this is to avoid clashes of dress when obviously the apron has the primary place in Masonic regalia and it's there in place ready to appear when the regalia is taken off.
