I'm beginning to see xmarks as a clan. For what is a clan but a group of people who support each other, give each other advice, and rally together to a common cause? There is the xmarks tartan, which is beautiful, and we need someone to design a crest... and draw up a motto.

What a post! Nine pages in a few hours!

I'll bet some Scotsmen in the hills of the south brewed up dandelion wine. How about the dandelion with whatever the Latin for "Ferment Me" is...?

X Marks seems more a Tribe than a clan...in the sense that the Navajos are a Tribe made up of clans. In the old days if any other Indians wandered through Navajo territory they'd get invited to join the tribe and that group would start a new clan. When the Navajos raided into Mexico and captured a Mexican maiden and she bore children they started the Nakai (Mexican clan). Today there are over a hundred Navajo clans but they comprise one tribe....if that makes sense.

Whatever the decision, I have an X Marks hand sewn kilt, an X Marks hand sewn vest, lots of X Marks kilt pins, and two X marks T-shirts so sign me up.

The Indians issue a Certificate of Indian Blood. Maybe we should issue an X Marks Certificate of Kilt Addiction and Clansmanship.
