From the number of pages I thought I had come across an old thread for a moment!
Maybe we can't be an official Clan in the strict sense, but we meet so many of the ideal characteristics of one so no harm in being an unofficial one!
We need more clan variant tartans, hunting, weathered etc!

Nice try gilmore, but that dog ain't gonna hunt.
I want to make it crystal-clear you are speaking from a position of absolute ignorance on this matter. If it were not so, you would not have made such a ridiculous and erroneous observation.
You might want to take a moment and read this thread.
Speaking strictly for myself here, I'm more than a little sick and tired of the back-handed swipes taken at the forum staff members. If anyone has an issue with a forum member (staff or otherwise), contact that member via Private Message. If you don't care for the moderation on this forum, go join an anarchy forum. Please remember you are not being held hostage here. You're free to leave whenever you choose.
The truth of the matter is that we do have a small group of problem children that require nearly constant attention from the staff members. It is also true you have no idea of those members' identities, no idea of the problems they have caused and no idea of the opportunities that have been extended those individuals. So do me a favor and try to limit your comments to topics upon which you have a modicum of knowledge.

Clan Song
I suggest that the clan song might be: All our X's aren't in Texaswith apologies to "All my exes live in Texas!"
You know, there is no doubt that the forum is a family. Most families are made up of various individuals who have some sort of relationship, be it from blood, marriage, adoption or whatever. Again, most families have a myriad of individual personalities... from the loving mother, the wayward son, the loony aunt, the curmudgeon grandfather, the dandy and the dowdy and on and on and on.
All I can say is as a family "we is one!"

I remember as a wee lad, (just a few years ago )my grandmother had a placard in her kitchen that read "Friends are family that you've chosen". And so it is with XMTS: XMarks is a clan that I've chosen.
I can dig the dandelion, but I like the Flame-Haired-Celtic-Godess' suggestion for a motto: "In kilts, fellowship" since even outside XMTS, the kilt is such an incredibly social garment.
Now who is going to be the first to have a Clan tent at a games venue signing up new members for the "world's first virtual clan"?

I would say that the XMTS.com site is our Virtual Clan Tent! Thats not to say that we can't have a physical tent at some games, and that would actually be pretty cool.

Seems to me the Mods nixed the idea of official XMarks tents
since we don't really own the name... But then you never know...

I'm sure someone will clear this up shortly...

Wow! Feel the love! What a hefty response to this thread.
Looks like we've mostly reached a consensus on the motto: "Not by blood, but by choice" seems to have most votes, and although I do still like "In Kilts, Fellowship", the Latin translation may be difficult if there truly is no Latin for kilt.
For clan plant badge, the dandelion seems to be the hands down winner (sorry Cloves!). Now I feel better about our lawn-all this time we've just been growing clan badges, not weeds!
Now, folks, how about that war cry?
Be well,

I went out last night to a Mini-kilt night (we only had three), and before I went I went in search of a dandelion to put in the bonnet.
Do you think I could find one? - - No! All the neighbors have been very good at killing them off.
Now I'm going to have to cultivate my own patch, just to have someting to stick in the slot behind the badge.
