Kilt Shop Reveals A Loyal Clientele Itching to Be Free

    By Nick Miroff
    Washington Post Staff Writer
    Monday, August 20, 2007; B01

Do not think of Brad Hutchins's new store, the Kilted Nation, as a novelty shop, but rather as a vision of America without pants
    ........
The first contemporary-kilt boutique in the Washington region, Hutchins's store is stocked with Sport Kilts for the athletic, AmeriKilts for the budget-minded and versatile Utilikilts for the most discerning clients -- all designed on the premise that man is a prisoner in his own underwear.

    Randy,

I'm glad you posted this. I was going to post it tonight after seeing in the Post today. Also seeing it at kiltblog.org the other day. I'm going to have to take a run out there this weekend.

I ended up (unexpectedly) in Arlington last Monday, and wanted to check them out, but alas it was too far out of my way.

Yah, calling Manassas D.C. metro is a little like saying I live in the Philly area. I was recruited into the Navy from the Manassas office and lived about 12 miles south down 28. Glad to see a kilt store there.

Truly not the town I expected one to crop up. I would have voted for Sterling, Maclean, Arlington (Olde Towne Alexandria already has a Scottish shop) .

Modern Kilts in Manassas, did not see that coming. Good to hear though!

A little less enthused than I would be to see a kiltmaker putting out a shingle. I wish this guy luck. Hope he doesn't go the way of the knife shops - between the internet and the rent.... Still it looks like he has a vision. I will have to go down there and see if he has a fat t-shirt. Doesn't look like he carries kilts big enough for me.

I live in Manassas, and had no idea about this. I will most definitely check this place out this weekend and post my impressions. You say you were 12 miles down 28, you from Cattlett? Midland ? I grew up in Opal and lived in Bealeton for years. Nice to see another Fauquier farmboy on here.

I figured DC metro would help better than just plain Manassas to orient the less than local.

Actually the house on 28 that sits right on the county line 2 miles south of Nokesville. So technically yeah Catlett. Mom ran that store in Casanova, the Casanova Junction.

Worked on Melrose Castle Farm and affiliates b4 the Navy. Also the Cardinal Pizza joint in Warrenton.

After the Nav, lived over in Irongate for a spell. Wrestled for Brentsville in 776, in 77 they moved the county line on me and I wrestled for Fauquier. Graduated FHS class of 79.5

Good to see another hay bale relocation specialist on here !

If main man starts carrying some huge sizes, I am gonna have to make that trip.
