    Question Adding 'hidden' pocket?

Have any of you sewing maniacs tried to add pockets to any of your pocketless kilts? Maybe one of those Neokilt 'hidden' pockets?

I'd like to add some to my Thrifty SWK. Any pocket really since I'm not a big fan of sporrans (puts on flame retardant suit).

    Thanks for any input. -'Nuts

I've never done this, but it should be easy, especially with solid color kilts. Just take a piece of fabric that you want as the size of the pocket and sew it into the inside of your kilt. If you have a solid color kilt, just make sure that you use the same color thread to sew in the pocket. I wouldn't pack too much stuff in the new pocket though, or it might look a bit grotesque.

I'm spoilt with my Freedom Kilt, six pockets. Two of which are hidden front slash pockets. I've heard some sew a hidden flask pocket to their inner apron. Don't expect it to carry much as it will show through the outer apron.

Yah, I got a thrifty and love it for what it is. Just got my FK cargo with 7 pockets. I wish you well if you try to pockets on your thrifty, but I would try wearing a belt pouch (think Liam in Rob Roy) or getting a nice FK or even a U.K.

Rkilts looks good as well and gets strong reviews here.

Maybe you could try the nightstalker sporran worn on the side with hangers instead of a strap?

On the other hand, it's not like your'e doing weird surgery on a hand sewn Newsome or anything.

I've mentioned this in other posts. My kilt is former military. It has a pocket sewn into the under-apron. It's would probably be for the pay book. I use it for concert tickets.

It's not former military. But, my Morrison tank features this same type of pocket.

Other than concert tickets, or perhaps a map or pamphlet I can't see much use for it.

Yep, very similar to that. My other tank, made in Scotland, doesn't have it.

That's for the ceramic armor plating needed to protect the rest of the world from Brad's masculine pulchritude.

You multi-pocket kilt wearers make me jealous.

The under-apron pocket looks promising. All I ever carry is keys, money/card clip, cigarettes, and lighter.

If the pocket(s) is close enough to the center of the body, would carrying these things produce a ...um... grotesque appearance? Considering you guys say they're not worth more than small paper holders.

Or would I just get more questions about "what's under there?".
