Yes, The dandelion is a great plant badge for XMTS
-
No, I think we are better represented by a different plant

Yeah, like I'm really going to wear one of those 6 inch wide leaves on my bonnet!! not.
Maybe as a rain hat.

When I first moved here from the Glasgow area in 1989 I started uprooting dandelions from the embankment behind the house, regarding them as a worthless weed. The next door neighbour came out and called on me to stop, as the dandelion roots were essential to bind the thin soil into the shale of the embankment and thus avoid landslides.
Our x-marks Dandelion would signify a Binding together of the x-marks members, despite their diverse ancestry Roots.

A dandelion would stain the crap out of your bonnet.

Kudzu
OK - I'll admit to suggesting Kudzu somewhat tongue in cheek. In my defense, I'm stuck at home recuperating and going stir crazy! See http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=30136

I like the Dandelion.
It's a beautiful, hardy and useful plant.
It was often used in the past to dye wool for making kilts.
And it tastes great, too.
I love making Dandelion and Burdock ale.

I'd be getting a FAKE dandelion for the bonnet.
The real thing just wouldn't be quite right for all year use. One day, fine, but not continued.
What about a poll of Dandelion vs. Barley (as it was once suggested and semi-adopted by some, as I recall) as the X Marks badge?

Well, the non-drinkers among us will have dandelion tea while the rest of you have dandelion wine.

If you check it out, barley is used for a lot more than beer and whiskey in Scotland (though God only knows why). I still think barley would be appropriate.
