A Tartan for "A Company of Adventurers"

Well, it won't be a Great Kilt but Erin, our lead seamstress, took Barb Tewksbury's course during Kilt Kamp and will be making me a full Traditional hand-sewn from the HBC Tartan and you can bet I will stroll through 'The Bay' in it.

Even Kiltmakers get The Jones.

Oh wow, I just came up with a really good title for a Willy Nelson song.

That is a stunning tartan. For some reason down in the states when they teach about the Hudson Bay Company the teachers always make it sound like it is dead and gone. Then one day I did an internet search, and BAM there it was

a shock to my American eyes. I think it is neat that such a company has continued to thrive.

My McRae ancestors emigrated from Scotland to Churchill and on to the Red River Settlement (now Winnipeg) before returning to Scotland and later emigrating to New Zealand. Guess that's enough to make me want to save the pennies for an Hudson Bay tartan.

Well, it hasn't really continued to thrive.

The Bay is actually now owned by an american corporation, I believe.

Also, when I was in Michigan, I remember driving by a department store called "Hudson's". I was told by my friend that lived there, that it was somewhat related to the "Bay". (In Canada, the Hudson Bay Company department stores are just called "The Bay")
