I also recently purchased a black Lochcarron argyll jacket. I paid a bit more for it than some other argylls I've seen but Lochcarron's quality is beyond impeccable. A lot of other people on this board prefer the crail style of jacket because of it's more subdued contemporary style, but I like the argyle style specifically because it is very differently looking than a normal suit jacket. I figure since my kilt is a traditional Scottish garment, I want a more traditional jacket when I dress up. Granted, I only plan to wear the jacket for semi formal and formal occassions. I almost never wear a sport coat for day wear. If I did, I'd more than likely buy a nice crail jacket in tweed.

I've always enjoyed the detail of the Welsh Argyle. I went to Kiltstore clicked on Welsh Argyle and it looks like a Braemar but with tartan in the cuffs and pocket flaps. I always wondered if those tartan details could be changed (a la Velcro) to coordinate with the various different tartans we seem to collect.
