That is an interesting little article. So stereotype that girls are initially offered tartan skirts... So nice to see the boys having opinions of their own - and that their voices are heard

    PS
Doesn't the apron open to the wrong side?

    Thanks, Turpin and Phil!
I had been searching for information about kilted school uniforms for boys, but I could only find boys' pipe bands. It was great to hear that some schools DO, in fact, have uniform kilts for the boys.
Now...for the next question...do you think this would ever fly in the U.S. ? Hmm...

Children's kilts were often fastened on the left side, regardless of gender.

Tat shops often sell girls skirts and call them children's kilts.

The Queen Victoria School in Dunblane Scotland was founded for the sons of servicemen. The uniform was always kilts and tweed jackets with white shirts and school ties. In recent years girls have been allowed into the school also and wear the same tartan in skirts.

It was always a hallmark of the town that the pupils were seen walking in their kilts and a fine sight it was too. They have their own pipe band and also a highland dancing team.

There was a forum member at one time (forgive me if I do not remember who it was) who owned a kilt from the QVS; the tartan in question is Stewart Hunting.

If I recall correctly, the kilt is part of the dress uniform of Queen Victoria School, rather than the everyday uniform.
