A couple of new belt styles

Just to let ya'll know, we have added a couple of new buckle styles to the belts we offer at the museum gift shop. One, the round brass buckle, will be part of our standard offerings. The other, the hand forged iron, we are just trying out, so right now they are while stock lasts only. (However, if they sell out in rapid fashion we may make them a standard option, too).

They are down towards the bottom of this page:

That hand forged buckle is very nice Matt... Too bad I am stuck in India right now and the wife has my credit card!

Wow, those are some great new buckles. I will most definitely be ordering one here soon. I have a few bills to pay off first, but once those are done, maybe in October, i'll be getting one for sure. Thanks!

    Matt,

I like the look of the round buckle, but I don't care for brass.
Does the black Clansman's Belt come with a chrome/nickel buckle?

The round one is not available in anything but brass, but we can get square buckles with nickel.

    So, Matt,
Do you think the 1.75" belt with the round buckle is wide enough for a traditional kilt?
Most of the ones I have seen have been over 2" wide.

    OR
Is the round buckled belt available in any wider forms?

Yes, I think 1.75" is wide enough for a kilt. I say this because the brown leather belt that I've been wearing for about 10 years with my kilts, that I used to think was 2" wide, come to find out is only 1.75" wide. :-)

Seriously, I wouldn't go any more narrow than this, but it looks good, especially with the large brass buckle.

And yes, there is a wider version of the round buckle belt available, but it's really hefty. I want to say about 3" wide, if memory serves. Anyway, it's available for ordering if anyone wants, but we decided to stock the narrower one as we figured it would be more popular.

I'm not going to be able to get on the computer probably until about Monday, so if anyone has any pressing belt questions that can't wait till then, just call the shop and ask to speak to Ronan. 828-524-7472. He handles most of our belt stuff anyway.

    Aye,
    Matt

Very nice, Matt. I really like the belt I bought from you when I ordered my kilt last year. It's just about the only kilt belt I use now. To everyone else here, the quality of my belt is superb. The leather is thick enough to be used as a "lifting belt" if it was wider. You can't go wrong with buying one of Matt's belts.
