I shop at Dixie Gun Works for a number of items having nothing to do with kilts. However, I have noticed quite a bit of stuff that can be used with kilts, including dirks, sgian dubhs (they spell it sgian dhu), belts, buckles, clothing patterns, moccasins, etc.

Why should it get locked? Much of the stuff there has a historical association with the kilt, just as is expected in the Forum Rules.

Nice find ChromeScholar. Sometime the right kilt accessory can be found in a place one wouldn't be looking. I don't know if I could pull off mocassins though.

Their sgian received pretty poor review from customers, even though it's inexpensive. That's too bad... I'm kind of keeping an eye out for a decent one.

True but you get what you pay for, right? Not to hijack but I think that the best quality for a decent price is a Rab Gordon blade and then make your own handle. If only Rab took PayPal

I'm not entirely convinced of that. I'm not advocating the antipersonal aspect of knives, but there are all sorts of things a nice, sharp blade is handy for. I have a folder I carry in my sporran, and I rarely go a week without using it. Shouldn't a knife I carry in my sock have at least the same utility value?

I'll agree that a shape knife can be handy, hey i work on a rescue boat and always carry two when doing so. My concern is a safety. I've never carried a sgian dubh (being non-Scottish, I didn't see the need). I find it a little unnerving of shoving even a sheathed knife in my hose for fear that they separate.
